2011 BARRY SHEENE FESTIVAL OF SPEED
Eastern Creek, NSW, April 2-3 2011
After a couple of tests and the shakedown PCRA club meeting, we set off for the Barry Sheene Festival Of Speed with cautious optimism. The Barry Sheene, under the enthusiastic promotion of Peter MacMillan and the PCRA, has risen in status to rival the Phillip Island Classic as Australia's premier classic race meeting.
International riders entered included Robbie Phillis, Malcolm Campbell, Steve Bridge and Warwick Nowland, along with leading National level riders such as Leo Cash, Rex Wolfenden, and our biggest challenger in Post-Classic - reigning Australian champion Robert Young. With a field like that we knew it would be a big challenge.
