EVENTS AND SERIES
Historic events in Australia can be very roughly categorised into National, Club/State, or Other;
National-level Race Events:
There are three "big meetings" on the Australian Calendar:
Phillip Island Classic - Held over the Australia Day long-weekend on or around the 26th January at Phillip Island (duh). This is a well-established meeting on the famous 4.46km Grand Prix Circuit. Amazingly enough, it commands the highest spectator attendance of any non-world championship motorcycle race in Oz! It attract entrants from all over the world, particularly New Zealand and the UK. The Phillip Island circuit is something very special, and generates an atmosphere all of it's own. On the other side, the weather can be (and often is) abominable!
Website - http://www.islandclassic.com.au/Barry Sheene Festival of Speed - Often shortened to BSFOS or just "Barry Sheene", this meeting is held in late March at Eastern Creek to the West of Sydney. In recent times it has well and truly risen to challenge the Island Classic as the premier Historic meeting in the country thanks to enthusiastic and efficient organisation by the PCRA club (but is quite different to the PCRA Club Championship rounds). Even better, driven by Ian Morrison's enthusiasm the event has taken on a real Laverda flavour, hosting the National Laverda Rally and having a dedicated Laverda streetbike track session on Saturday in 2011. All the same and more is planned for 2012 - including the innaugural Ken Wooton Memorial Trophy for Post-Classic Unlimited bikes which we hope to be competitive in - so make sure you don't miss it!
Website - http://www.barrysheene.com.au/Australian National Titles - The National Titles are obviously hotly contested, the winner earning the right to call themselves Australian Champion for the year. The circuit changes each year but the event is always in November. For 2012 is it conveniently located at Eastern Creek on 16-18 November.

Club Racing by State:
Post-Classic Racing Association of New South Wales (PCRA) - The PCRA are NSW-based and run a club championship throughout the year. Tracks for 2012 will be the new Eastern Creek South (short) circuit and Wakefield Park. PCRA rounds are notable for the efficient organisation and the friendly camaraderie between the entrants.
Website - http://www.postclassicracing.com.au/Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria (HMRAV) - From their website: The Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria ( HMRAV ), was established in 1979 by a group of vintage racing enthusiasts. Since then, we have been promoting and organizing vintage motorcycling racing events throughout Victoria and are held at track locations including: Winton, Broadford, Phillip Island, as well as a couple of hill climb circuits. Our events are designed to provide a fun day for all participants, under a relaxed social atmosphere.
Website - http://www.hmrav.org/Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland - There is no specific historic motorcycle racing in QLD, but MC Sportsmen run classic classes at some of their meetings. Notable is the Masters of Morgan Park meeting in May (near Warwick).

Others:
Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza (HBBB) - Sponsored by Honda and organised in conjunction with Motorcycling Australia (motorcycle sport's governing body in Oz) this event is modelled on the "Parade" format used by events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed or the Festival of 1000 Bikes. It is not a race meeting, but you are able to sign up for track sessions if you have suitable machinery. Uniquely, it encompasses all forms of the sport thanks to the Broadford facility with Road Racing, Speedway, Grass Track, Motocross, Trials etc - all with historic machinery. It is gaining in popularity very fast and attracts some famous names and exotic bikes. Breganzane-ICR hope to attend in 2012.

Website - http://www.speedontweed.com.au/Historic festival at Goulburn - A celebration of the 85th anniversary of the first Australian Grand Prix in Goulburn, NSW. January 13-15th 2012.
